This time, I’m going to review Nesa, a Layer-1 blockchain project for AI, which I find highly promising. What makes Nesa so special? Nesa uses blockchain to enhance data security and privacy. By reading this article, I hope we can better understand how Nesa helps maintain full control over AI models and leverages on-chain technology to boost security and privacy.

Let’s check it out!

Imagine having access to artificial intelligence that is not only smart but also secure and decentralized. Nesa makes this a reality with on-chain technology, enabling fast, secure, and transparent AI inference. With Nesa, you can confidently use AI in various aspects of life, from business to personal use, without worrying about data privacy and security.

Here, I’ll only provide an overview of Nesa. If you’re interested in learning more, you can read the full documentation through the link provided at the end.

Introduction to Nesa

Nesa means “miracle,” paying homage to the golden age of AI we are experiencing today. Advanced technologies, like trusted AI, often seem indistinguishable from miracles.

Nesa is a lightweight Layer-1 platform that performs critical AI inference for queries requiring high levels of privacy, security, and trust. It utilizes advanced on-chain methods, including zero-knowledge machine learning (ZKML), split learning (SL), and more.

Nesa was created as an alternative to ChatGPT and other inference platforms, which are centralized and controlled by major players. These platforms lack visibility or accountability in the output of important transactions and fail to provide privacy for your data and results, which is a significant issue in AI.

Nesa’s vision is highly ambitious: to create a more secure, transparent, and decentralized AI platform. By using on-chain technology, Nesa offers higher privacy and security in AI inference. This is a strong step toward increasing user trust in AI.

I agree that centralized AI platforms controlled by major players pose a major issue. The lack of visibility and accountability in critical transaction outputs can erode user trust. Nesa offers an excellent alternative to existing AI platforms.

Limitations of Centralized Architecture

Centralized architectures present significant limitations in AI development. While commonly used, centralized processing architecture can introduce risks like data privacy concerns, computational bottlenecks, deterministic outputs, and a single point of failure. The high costs and scarcity of high-performance computing resources can also limit mass AI adoption.

Security challenges are another major concern in AI development. Techniques such as continuous adaptation and domain adaptation offer partial solutions but are vulnerable to backdoor attacks and often result in suboptimal model performance. Collectively, these issues have real-world implications for businesses needing critical inference.

Nesa’s Decentralized, Private, and Secure Solution

Nesa has created the first decentralized query marketplace — a large AI model store for Web3 powered by an incentive economy for AI developers, queriers, miners, and model reviewers. This global repository is the first of its kind for decentralized, on-chain AI. The Nesa model store includes not only large language models (LLMs) but also leading models for vision and other key modalities. Nesa also supports small, proprietary models for businesses and individuals requiring high levels of security and privacy.

The process for AI inference on Nesa is simple. Nesa’s Layer-1 securely queries off-chain AI models while keeping their parameters and outputs confidential. Nesa’s mining network reaches consensus and then broadcasts this trusted proof on-chain via the system’s oracle.

Nesa has three key stakeholders:

  1. AI Models: Repository, Standardization, Uniformity
  2. Users: Why Private Inference Is Needed
  3. Node Runners: Perform Inference and Earn $NES

To learn more about what’s being built on Nesa, I encourage you to read the full documentation. There are many technical details about the system’s architecture, setting a new standard for blockchain-powered AI.

History, Team, and Background Behind Nesa

Nesa is an excellent example of innovation in on-chain AI development. By enabling traceable, verifiable, and legitimately shareable AI performance, Nesa paves the way for a more transparent and accountable future in AI usage. Its patented end-to-end system integrates privacy, security, verification, and consensus, making Nesa a highly promising solution.

Nesa emerged in response to the need for open, decentralized AI. In today’s digital era, AI is becoming an integral part of our lives, but centralized AI often brings problems such as performance instability and lack of transparency. Nesa offers a better solution by enabling AI performance that can be monitored, evaluated, and controlled.

The story behind Nesa’s creation is also compelling. A group of friends, frustrated by the industry’s top centralized LLMs, decided to create a better solution. They recruited a world-class engineering team and built the first decentralized, open, trustless AI network. This shows that Nesa was born out of real needs and driven by a passion for innovation.

Nesa’s advantages include:

  • AI performance that is traceable, verifiable, and legitimately shareable
  • Integration of privacy, security, verification, and consensus through a patented end-to-end system
  • A more transparent and accountable solution for AI usage
  • Quick integration and access

Overall, Nesa represents an incredible innovation in on-chain AI development. By offering a better, more transparent solution, Nesa has the potential to revolutionize how we use AI in the future.

AI meets cryptography. The Nesa team combines leaders from both industries. Their engineering team has over 100 years of combined experience in AI. To learn more about the Nesa team, you can find more details here.
